The event took place on 4 February and was aimed at the heads of pharmaceutical company licensing departments. The initiative was attended by more than 50 industry professionals, from both national and international laboratories.
Héctor Jausàs, firm partner and specialist in pharmaceutical and competition law, was in charge of the session, assisted by Maria Cedó, firm associate and another expert in these fields.
The session took place over the course of more than two hours, with a first part setting out the theory and a second providing a case study of a sample licensing agreement, which was keenly commented upon and debated by all the participants. The abuse of a dominant position, agreements restricting competition, the legal framework and the consequences of breaching antitrust regulations were the main issues covered.
The main goal of the seminar was to provide senior management responsible for licenses with the general framework of antitrust regulations and associated limitations, mastery of which is a key element in designing a proper negotiating and commercial strategy.
