JAUSAS partner Roser Ràfols took part as a speaker in the course Innovation ecosystems in natural reserves: the case of the Urdaibai biosphere reserve, organised by the University of the Basque Country (UPV) in Bilbao on 12 July and which debated whether the extension to the Guggenheim Museum should be installed in this protected area.
In addition to Roser Ràfols, also taking part were course coordinator Petxo Odoyaga, Professor Ramón Zallo of the Audiovisual Communications Chair of the University of the Basque Country and painter Jesús Mari Lazkano, professor at the UPV's Fine Arts Faculty.
Roser's talk focused on the legal and planning framework currently in place to ensure the protection of natural reserves and, more specifically, the legal restrictions on any building use or development of protected land, explaining the case of Catalonia, which has seen the building of a range of infrastructures halted for this reason.
